The Giants continued to add to their pitching staff late Wednesday night, reportedly signing left-handed pitcher Matthew Boyd to a one-year deal.
MLB Network insider Jon Heyman reported the contract is worth $5.2 million, plus $2.3 million in incentives.
Boyd, who was non-tendered by the Detroit Tigers after the 2021 season, is entering his eighth campaign in the big leagues. The 31-year-old owns a career 4.96 ERA, 1.327 WHIP and 8.7 K/9 in 149 career appearances (145 starts).
In 2021, Boyd logged a 3-8 record, career-best 3.89 ERA and 7.7 K/9 in 15 starts for the Tigers. Susceptible to the long ball, Boyd served up the most home runs among American League pitchers in 2019 and ’20.
