Mets' Buck Showalter reveals spring training rotation for Grapefruit League games, including Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer

Mets manager Buck Showalter announced Thursday the spring training starting rotation for New York’s upcoming Grapefruit League games, headlined by a couple of matchups on SNY.

LHP Josh Walker (Saturday at the Nationals), LHP David Peterson (Sunday against the Cardinals), RHP Max Scherzer (Monday at the Marlins) and RHP Jacob deGrom (Tuesday against the Astros) are in line to start for the Mets this week.

DeGrom gets the ball Tuesday in a 6:10 p.m. start on SNY. Also on SNY, Peterson takes the mound for a 1:10 p.m. first pitch Sunday.

“Walker is probably going to be 3-to-4 innings — the rest of those guys are scheduled for one,” Showalter said Thursday in Port St. Lucie, Fla. “He can probably go by what Max threw yesterday and Jake threw today.”

DeGrom got the ball in a sim game Thursday, throwing off a mound to hitters for the first time since July 7 of last summer, and impressed his teammates.

“Jake’s going to make the club,” Showalter said with a laugh….
