Mets might need to add more offensive punch to keep up with Braves and Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ signing of Freddie Freeman on Wednesday night doesn’t pose a direct threat to the Mets’ chances of winning the NL East this season or reaching the playoffs as a wild card, but it does bring an important question back to the forefront.

Do the Mets have enough offense to not only excel in the NL East but go deep in the playoffs?

As the Mets are currently built, I’d say the answer to the above question is “maybe.” And a team like the Mets that is all-in should be removing as many maybes and what-ifs as possible.
