Arkansas Baseball silenced a hot-hitting North Carolina team in game one of the Chapel Hill Super Regional on Saturday.
North Carolina, who entered Saturday’s game with Arkansas by winning 11 of their last 12 games, could not figure out Razorback pitching, as they were able to only muster one run in game one of the best-of-three series, falling to Arkansas, 4-1.
Connor Noland held the Tar Heels in check by tossing his second quality start in a row. Over 6.2 innings, Noland struck out six batters while allowing six hits, just one of those being for extra bases. Noland’s deep start limited Arkansas to just using two arms out of the bullpen, Evan Taylor and Hagen Smith, meaning that every pitcher with the exception of Noland should be available to be used on the mound in today’s game if needed.
The only crucial hit for Carolina was a solo blast by freshman phenom Vance Honeycutt. The 8th inning home run was his 25th of the season.
