Tigers land big-time hitting transfer Tommy White

Future is bright with coach Jay Johnson

BOOM!

Tommy White, one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal this offseason, has committed to take his talent to the Bayou and play for head coach Jay Johnson.

Where do I start with White? Last season, he broke the NCAA record for most homers in a single season by a freshman with 27. He was recognized as the 2022 ACC Freshman of the Year with selections to the All-ACC First-Team and ACC All-Freshman team. He was also a Dick Howser Trophy semifinalist and a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist.

White is a 6-foot, 242-pound corner infielder who can swing it with the best of them. He finished last season with a batting average of .362 with 27 homers, 23 walks, 15 intentional walks and 50 strikeouts in 235 at-bats.

Johnson has just landed one of the most electric players in the country.
