Dylan Leach enters Transfer Portal

Arkansas Baseball will have to look elsewhere to find Michael Turner’s replacement at catcher.

Dylan Leach, who appeared in 24 games for the Razorbacks during the 2022 season, has announced his intent to enter the Transfer Portal.

In those 24 games, Leach recorded 58 at-bats, where he hit .224 with three doubles, a triple, five home runs and 24 RBI. Behind the dish, he recorded 149 putouts while committing only two errors.

Leach was expected to take the starting role for the 2023 season, replacing Michael Turner. Now with both Turner and Leach’s departure, the only returning catcher on Arkansas’ roster is Max Soliz Jr, a rising sophomore from Madison, Ala.

Looking at incoming freshman for next season, Arkansas has signed two catchers for the 2022 recruiting cycle: Ryder Helfrick and Nate Franco, both of California.

Leach becomes the third-known Razorback to enter the transfer portal, joining pitcher Mark Adamiak and utility man Drake Varnado, who entered the portal earlier in the month.
