The Dayton Dragons, in conjunction with the Cincinnati Reds, announced the following roster changes today:
Left-handed pitcher Jacques Pucheu has been placed on the temporarily inactive list.
Right-handed pitcher Manuel Cachutt and infielder J.V. Martinez have been placed on the injured list.
Left-handed pitcher Steve Hajjar has been promoted to Dayton from the ACL Reds. He was acquired yesterday by the Reds from the Minnesota Twins in the deal that sent major league pitcher Tyler Mahle to the Twins. Hajjar had been with the Fort Myers club in the Florida State League.
Hajjar had been ranked as the Twins #11 prospect by Baseball America prior to the trade. He was signed by Minnesota in 2021 as a second round draft pick out of the University of Michigan.
This season, Hajjar has pitched for the Twins Single-A affiliate, Fort Myers, where he made 12 starts, going 2-2 with a 2.47 ERA, allowing an opponent’s batting average of just .168 with 71 strikeouts in 43.2 innings.
The Dragons are back at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District tonight at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of the series with Peoria (St. Louis Cardinals affiliate). Christian Roa (3-3, 4.20) will start for Dayton against Peoria’s Inohan Paniagua (0-0, 0.00). The series continues with games through Sunday.
