Series Preview: a Duel of the Dean to Kick off August

Cardinals' Win Streak Snapped by Daytona

August 3, 2022 – Florida State League (FSL)Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

The Palm Beach Cardinals host the Jupiter Hammerheads this week for an action-packed series at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium (RDCS)! Both teams are in a race to clinch a spot in the Florida State League playoffs, and fans attending this series’ games will be treated to arguably our biggest week of promotions in 2022!

Currently, the Cardinals (47-47, 17-13 second half) lead Jupiter (50-43, 16-13 second half) by half of a game in the FSL East second half season standings. The division’s second half champion will face the St. Lucie Mets in the East Division Championship Series for a spot in the League Championship Series in September. Should the Mets-2022’s first half division winner-erase a two-game deficit and also win the second half, the team with the second-best overall record in the division would join St. Lucie in the best-of-three series.

This week serves as the final series between RDCS rivals Jupiter and Palm Beach, who will complete a 25-game season series that will prove pivotal in the postseason hunt. In addition, both teams will display newly acquired top talent from July’s 2022 MLB Draft draft! C Jimmy Crooks, OF Victor Scott, OF Alex Iadisernia, and more will wear the Beach Bird uniform for the first time at home! Meanwhile, the Hammerheads will feature Miami Marlins first-round pick OF Jacob Barry (1st Round – 6 Overall), as well as 1B Torin Montgomery (14th Round – 412 Overall) and OF Chase Luttrell (13th Round – 382 Overall) on a team that already features five of the organization’s top 20 overall prospects!
