Purdue's 2023 Slate Features 30 In-State Games

Nov. 4 Update: Due to a miscommunication with Butler’s staff, the Purdue-Butler midweek series has been changed to a single game Wednesday, April 19 at Alexander Field. The teams were originally scheduled to play that night at Victory Field in Indianapolis.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue baseball’s 2023 schedule features five home weekends and more home dates than true road games for the second straight year.

Head coach Greg Goff has unveiled a slate that features 30 total games in the state of Indiana. Along with 23 home dates at Alexander Field, the Boilermakers are scheduled to play in Indianapolis, Bloomington, Evansville and Terre Haute.

Purdue hosts Northwestern, Penn State, Rutgers and Nebraska for Big Ten weekend series this spring. Due in part to the coronavirus pandemic, the Huskers have not visited West Lafayette since the opening weekend of the 2016 conference season and Northwestern has not made the trip down since May 2018.

The Boilermakers visit Oxford, Mississippi, the weekend of March 10-12 for a three-game series at the defending national champion – Ole Miss. Purdue has not played the defending national champ since a May 1967 doubleheader at Ohio State. It will also be the program’s first action against a Southeastern Conference opponent since 2014 series at Tennessee and LSU.

Purdue is slated to begin its season at a Triple-A ballpark in Texas for the third year in a row, opening at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas, again. This year it’s a four-game series vs. first-time foe Holy Cross at a stadium in suburban Houston that serves as the home of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (Houston Astros affiliate).

For weekends No. 2 and 3, the Boilermakers return to North Carolina for consecutive series back at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs. The opponents this year are the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and Akron. Both series are four-game sets. Ting Stadium serves as the home of the Holly Springs Salamanders of the Coastal Plain League – one of the premier summer ball leagues in the southeast.

Purdue swept each of its three neutral-site series in 2022 as part of the program-record 15-0 start.
