LOS ANGELES – The annual TBAB (Trojan Baseball Alumni and Boosters) banquet was held this past weekend, with current and former USC baseball players and their families sharing a night of celebration and remembrance.
The night included four Trojan greats being honored, Head Coach Andy Stankiewicz introducing his staff and team, a silent auction to raise money for the program, and even a rendition of legendary coach Rod Dedeaux’s favorite song.
2022 TBAB Banquet Honorees:
Bill Lee – Most Valuable Person Award
Lee played at USC from 1966-68, winning a College World Series title in 1968. He went on to have a successful and colorful career in the majors and beyond, playing 15 MLB seasons with the Boston Red Sox and Montreal Expos.
Ron Salisbury – Arthur C. Bartner Service Award
Salisbury, a longtime supporter and friend of USC baseball, has been the proprietor of the iconic El Cholo family of restaurants in the Los Angeles area for the past 66 years.
John Jackson Jr. – Jay Jaffe Spirit of Troy Award
Jackson played both football and baseball while at USC and went on to play in the minor leagues and NFL following his time with the Trojans. Jackson, who went on to have an extensive broadcasting career as well, battled through a massive stroke he suffered in 2018.
Marcel Lachemann – Lifetime Achievement Award
Lachemann pitched for the Trojans from 1960-62, winning a College World Series title in 1961. He went on to play three seasons in the MLB, before starting a long and illustrious coaching career that began as the pitching coach at USC.
