Dawgs Place Six On D1 Baseball Top 100 Impact Transfers


STARKVILLE – The baseball season is just around the corner, with that D1 Baseball named its 2023 Top 100 Impact Transfers, and the Mississippi State Diamond Dawgs were well represented on the list.
 
Announced on Tuesday, Mississippi State had six transfers named to the list. Colton Ledbetter (No. 5), Landon Gartman (No. 31), Amani Larry (No. 33), Nate Dohm (No. 58), Aaron Nixon (No. 75), and Connor Hujsak (No. 93) represented the Dawgs.
 
Ledbetter is ranked as the fifth-best transfer as he joins the Dawgs after two seasons at Samford. Last season for Samford, Ledbetter was named to the second team SoCon Baseball Coaches All-Conference team. He also earned SoCon All-Tournament Team honors after setting a new SoCon record for most RBI in the conference tournament. He hit .318 last season and led Samford with 67 hits, 16 home runs, and 57 RBIs. Earlier this year, D1 Baseball ranked Ledbetter No. 26 in the Top 100 Prospects.
 
Gartman was ranked No. 31 in the Top 100 Impact Transfers by D1 Baseball. During his one year at Memphis, he was named the 2022 AAC Newcomer Pitcher of the Year and earned First Team All-AAC honors. He went 7-1 on the season and struck out 94 batters in 86 innings pitched. Opponents struggled to hit against Gartman as they compiled a batting average of .175 on the season, the best mark in the AAC.
 
Coming in at No. 33 on the Top 100 Impact Transfers is Larry, who joins the Maroon and White after a successful season at the University of New Orleans, where he was named Southland Newcomer of the Year and earned First Team All-Southland Conference honors. He led the team and finished third in the Southland with a .370 batting average. He drove in 56 runs on the season and had an on-base percentage of .477. He ended the season on a 14-game hitting streak and had 26 multi-hit games.
 
Mississippi State had two pitchers, Dohm (No. 58) and Nixon (No. 75), next on the list. Dohm transferred to MSU following his freshman season at Ball State. During his team at Ball State, he was named Collegiate Baseball National Pitcher of the Week for his performance on May 23. He went 4-3 on the season and had 56 punchouts.
 
Following two years at Texas, Nixon joins the Diamond Dawgs for his junior season. He is a 2021 D1 Baseball Second Team Freshman All-American. During his sophomore season, he made 26…
