Tar Heels land at No. 12 in preseason poll

Tar Heels set to host regional

The UNC baseball program is ready to build on a successful 2022 season and landed in the top-15 in another preseason poll.

Scott Forbes and the Tar Heels come in at No. 12 in the D1 Baseball preseason poll. It’s the third preseason poll that North Carolina has been ranked inside the top-15 in. They have been ranked from No. 11 to No. 13 in the three different polls.

UNC is one of seven ACC schools ranked in the poll, the second-highest behind No. 6 Wake Forest.

The other ACC programs include: No. 14 Virginia Tech, No. 16 Louisville, No. 19 Virginia, No. 21 NC State and No. 22 Miami.

In 2022, the Tar Heels finished 42-22 and won the ACC Title for the second time in three years. They advanced to the Super Regionals after wining 16 of their final 18 regular-season games and landed a home regional series.

Now, with 17 members returning and preseason All-American in Vance Honeycutt, the Tar Heels are expecting no less than what was accomplished a season ago.

Some notable ranked non-conference opponents include: No. 11 East Carolina and No. 23 South Carolina

The 2023 season for the Tar Heels begins when they host Seton Hall at home on February 17 for a three-game series.
