Three Big 12 Teams Ranked By D1Baseball


Oklahoma State leads three Big 12 baseball squads ranked in the initial D1Baseball Top 25. Joining the No. 9 Cowboys are No. 14 TCU and No. 24 Texas Tech.
 
The Cowboys tied for second in the 2022 Big 12 standings, posting a 42-22 overall record, and hosted an NCAA Regional at O’Brate Stadium. Among OSU’s returners is Nolan McLean, who led the team with 19 home runs in 2022. Roc Riggio, who was named a Freshman All-American a season ago, returns to Stillwater after hitting .295 with 11 round-trippers and 47 RBIs.
 
TCU is coming off a second consecutive Big 12 regular season title, winning the 2022 trophy outright with a 16-8 record. Brayden Taylor leads all returning TCU players in batting average (.314), hits (66), home runs (13), RBI (50) and OPS (1.030). The Horned Frogs finished the season with a 38-22 record and advanced to the championship of their NCAA Regional.
 
Texas Tech finished in a tie for second during the 2022 Big 12 season, and finished the year with a 39-22 overall record. Mason Molina is the top pitcher to return to Lubbock, posting a 3.90 earned run average and held opponents to a .215 batting average while featuring in both a starting and relief role in 2022. The Red Raiders made their sixth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance, and reached the final game of the regional.  
 
Five Big 12 programs earned bids to the NCAA Championship in 2022, with all five advancing to their respective Regional championship game. The 2023 baseball season starts on Friday, February 17, and Conference play begins on March 17. The 2023 Philips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship takes place May 24-28 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
