Former Clemson infielder set to join Mariners coaching staff

Former Clemson infielder Mike Freeman is set to see the game in a whole new light this season. After playing six seasons in the MLB, Freeman was announced as the new manager for the Arkansas Travelers, a Double-A affiliate for the Seattle Mariners organization, on Tuesday.

In his six seasons in the Big Leagues, Freeman recorded 45 runs off of 80 hits, 32 RBIs, 14 doubles and five homers in 193 game appearances with six different teams. The 6-foot, 195-pound infielder made his MLB debut in 2016 with Arizona after spending roughly six seasons in the minors.

Prior to his time in the MLB, the Florida native was drafted in the eleventh round by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the No. 331 overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft after playing two seasons with the Tigers.
